Last weekend was "Flag Day" in Venezuela. Normally you don't see that many flags here in private residences or businesses; I've spotted them here and there, but nothing like so common as in the U.S.
On this day, however, flags were everywhere -- even, as you can see, in front of my apartment building. Part of the day's intent was to assert Venezuelan sovereignty, which many feel the U.S. is threatening (well, how else does one interpret the Bush administration's stated intent to "tame" Chavez?) Venezuelans, Chavista or no, feel very strongly about their sovereignty.
