El Charcote ranch will be ceded to the state

After all the hue and cry over the "invasion" and "expropriation" of the Vestey ranches by poor Venezuelan farmers backed by the government, the issue seems to have been resolved with little drama. The British owner of the land in question has made an "amicable" deal with the Venezuelan government to sell Venezuela 56,000 hectares of its 300,000-hectare holdings, for a sum equivalent to US $4.1 million.

And the fearmongers who were shouting that the land redistribution progam would lead straight to fascism ... are suddenly nowhere to be found.
